College Interview

Breathing a sigh of relief when your college interview is over with?

When the interview is done, you and the college admissions rep will shake hands no doubt, and he or she will escort you out. Have a concluding response ready, such as, “Thank you for your time, Mrs. Jones, it’s been a pleasure meeting you.” Look them in the eye, give them your best, confident smile and strong handshake.

Then, outside, you will breathe a big sigh of relief knowing that you’re done. No, you’re not.

Send that College Interview Thank You Note!

It is customary, polite and professional, to send a thank-you note/email that afternoon, or the following day. Proof the note, check for spelling of names, and use their correct title.

The first line thanks them again for their time. The next line should be a bit specific about the discussion. Maybe something like, “I enjoyed sharing my experiences training for the NYC marathon,” or “I appreciated your suggestion about the clubs I may want to join.” Adding something specific will associate your name with the interview, creating a greater lasting impression.
