Parents and students laissez-faire attitude will be devastating down the road
Always, always, always address how you are going to pay for college and how much you can afford, without loans, before you start your college search, NOT after, when it’s too late. We, as parents, want to fulfill our child’s dreams. But teaching yourself and your child restraint and outlining the reality of your situation during this process is of upmost importance and can save decades of being saddled with loans down the road.
One of my parents sent this article to me and although you may find it harsh, read it, embrace it, and most importantly, implement it in your family’s college journey. There may be some tears and difficult discussions as you head down this road but everyone will be thankful in the end. After all, this is the beginning of many lessons in life they will experience.
