I visited the Fairfield University sprawling campus of over 200 acres, located in beautiful Fairfield CT, on August 18. This Jesuit, suburban institution has 3300 undergraduates allowing them plenty of research opportunities. Most of their freshman classes enter with an undeclared major but by the time they get their degree 98% have job placement within their desired career within 6 months.
They have 4 colleges, Engineering, Business, Arts and Sciences and Nursing (they also have Film and Media Arts majors). Nursing is more competitive to gain acceptance at a rate of 50% for Early Decision and the Early Action candidates are reviewed more conservatively. The average Nursing applicant having a 3.6+ GPA. Fairfield has a 5 year Business/MBA program which is highly sought after. They have a wide breadth of study abroad programs and are a Div I athletic school.
This school requires a resume (read my Resume tip posted on 8/24) and an interview is optional, but I would recommend setting this up if you are interested in this school. Their Education program includes a Masters degree program as well. I very much enjoyed walking the campus and visiting with one of their Admissions Counselors. A must visit if you are thinking of pursuing Education, Nursing or Business.
